Winds won\u2019t be as strong to start this morning, generally around 10 to 15 mph. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">We have some cloud cover hanging around for a few hours this morning but we\u2019ll see some sunshine by the afternoon if not earlier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">High temperatures today will stay on the warm but not scorching hot side of things, topping out around the 90 to 95 degree mark for most today. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Not as hot as yesterday, we'll still see highs reach up to around the 90 to 95 degree mark.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/J3LJHTRREFBHTEKD2CIXHYHKU4.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"547\" \/>Not as hot as yesterday, we&#8217;ll still see highs reach up to around the 90 to 95 degree mark.(Dylan Smith)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Rain chances during the day are relatively slim but will pick up for our northern counties heading into later this evening and overnight tonight.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Most rain today\/tonight will be north of the area and in our northern counties today\/tonight\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/MA5XV5V5PFHRLMOVZWOVZ6OZFQ.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"553\" \/>Most rain today\/tonight will be north of the area and in our northern counties today\/tonight(Dylan Smith)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">TONIGHT<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A few shots of isolated showers will pass through our northern counties primarily and will generally not be a threat as far as severe weather goes. Overnight lows remain mild in the 60s and 70s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">EXTENDED WEATHER PATTERN<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Saturday will look a lot of Friday, with a quieter day-time stretch as far as rain chances go. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"A busier weekend of rain is on the way for the middle of June\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/JIBGUNTBANHPVMBQP5HXWKV7R4.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"554\" \/>A busier weekend of rain is on the way for the middle of June(Dylan Smith)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Rain chances will begin picking up Saturday night and persist throughout a good chunk of the day Sunday and lasting into Monday before we see rain chances really begin to fade for most of the area. Chances for severe weather for Saturday are looking possible but not a major threat for now.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"A marginal risk currently envelops our northern counties for Saturday\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/OWKAXITL5VDPNBSP4X664RS6KE.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"555\" \/>A marginal risk currently envelops our northern counties for Saturday(Dylan Smith)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Drought has been greatly impacted by recent rainfall for a good chunk of the South Plains. Most of us have been downgraded to Moderate drought from what was Severe, and a good portion of the Extreme drought has been eliminated to a better category. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Great improvements have been made in lessening the drought across the South Plains. Last week showed 90%+ of the area under Severe drought and quite a bit of Extreme drought as well.
