High in Mexico\u2019s Sierra Tarahumara, volunteers are making a long trek to deliver food and toys to Indigenous communities in Chihuahua that have been battered by years of drought.<\/p>\n
The effort is called Korima, a Tarahumara word that means \u201cto help and love your neighbor.\u201d The volunteer group is made up of people from El Paso, Ju\u00e1rez and Las Cruces, and spends the year collecting donations for Indigenous communities in Chihuahua.<\/p>\n
Photojournalist Rudy Reyes traveled deep into the Sierra Tarahumara to see firsthand how those donations are making a difference.<\/p>\n
People identified in connection with the report include America Blancos Ramos, a Tonachi resident; Luara Carrete, a Korima member; and Tonachi, identified as a Raramuri governor. No quotes from them were provided.<\/p>\n
