But many people are also psyched about Dia de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, where Houstonians honor their loved ones that are no longer with us. But it\u2019s also a time to celebrate Latin culture, enjoy live music and dancing, and snack on some pan de muerto (translation: bread of the dead).<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a rundown of Dia de los Muertos-related events happening all over the city this weekend: <\/p>\n<p>Friday<\/p>\n<p>Over at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/dia-de-los-muertos-family-movie-night-tickets-1708322702189?aff=oddtdtcreator&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawNwmXhleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFUS1pVMDdreDUwMDV4TnBuAR7kioeEUI4VrDvfMBXtnH0XX1z1fEqfIP06OfDPBVoXoPgprRBAoi-zD7GsEw_aem_cT5J3RnTyM4PZ1BJlJXCLA\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Trebly Park<\/a>, enjoy a free outdoor screening of Coco under the stars. The ofrenda will be open for all to see and you can bring a photo of your loved ones to place on the altars. Traditional refreshments, including tamales and pan de muerto, will be served. 5:30 pm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmhouston.org\/events\/dia-de-los-muertos-2\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Children\u2019s Museum Houston<\/a> will be transformed into a Land of the Dead. Step into a celebration bursting with vibrant marigolds, dazzling sugar skulls, and meaningful traditions. Experience Mexican culture through storytelling and dance that bring D\u00eda de los Muertos to life. 9 am.<\/p>\n<p>Over at <a href=\"https:\/\/cityplacenow.com\/events\/2025-dia-de-los-muertos-festival-11-1\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">City Place<\/a>, enjoy live music, special photo moments, an Azteca indigenous dance performance, along with other pop-up craft activations. From Danza Azteca Macuixochitl, Duo Menil, Los Regio\u00f1arios to Vanessa y Banda La Garita, Danza Folklorico de Solei, the lineup is packed with incredible performances celebrating culture and community. 11 am.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfah.org\/events\/punch-party-rienzi?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=Emperor%20Trajan%20s%20Treasures%2C%20Mariachis%20%26%20Movies%2C%20D%C3%ADa%20de%20los%20Muertos%20%26%20More&amp;utm_campaign=FRI%20%7C%20OCT%2024%20%7C%20General%20Audience%20%28Copy%29\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston<\/a> will have a punch party at Rienzi. Explore the grounds and the art collection while enjoying a time-honored blend of spirits, citrus, sugar, and spices. There will be food trucks and plenty of live vendors, courtesy of Tulip\u2019s Market. 1 pm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverygreen.com\/signature-experiences\/dia-de-los-muertos\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Discovery Green<\/a> begins its celebration with a procession led by Danza Azteca Macuilxochitl, followed by the Catr\u00edn y Catrinas Parade.
