local KXII News<\/a>.<\/p>\nAfter Makynna\u2019s father, Tommy Tumlinson, checked his daughter\u2019s location and found it at the crash sight, he drove to the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom that point on, we were just panicking, you know, hoping they got something wrong,\u201d the distraught mother told KXII.<\/p>\n
The truck\u2019s driver, 37-year-old Hector Ivan Mejia Garcia of Allen, Texas, was taken a local hospital with suspected minor injuries, the DPS said.<\/p>\n
The tragedy was compounded by Makynna\u2019s miraculous start in life, her family said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen she was born, we were given a 2% chance that she would make it, that she would be born stillborn,\u201d Stephanie Tumlinson said. \u201cShe beat those odds.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mykanna\u2019s mom and dad said her nickname was Sunshine \u201cbecause she brightened everyone\u2019s day.\u201d KXII<\/p>\n
Although Makynna\u2019s life was short, her family said he lived her 18 years to the fullest. She was a cheerleader, student council president and prom queen.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m hoping she\u2019s known for the girl that never turned down a friend, that she would have befriended anyone of all ages.\u201d<\/p>\n
The teen was named prom queen at Tom Bean high school. KXII<\/p>\n
Makynna\u2019s senior parking space at her school has become a memorial with flowers, stuffed animals and candles.<\/p>\n
And the family is left to grapple with an unimaginable loss.<\/p>\n
