{"id":335480,"date":"2026-06-14T00:42:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T00:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/335480\/"},"modified":"2026-06-14T00:42:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T00:42:08","slug":"lubbock-celebrates-service-and-engagement-at-806-serve-fest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/335480\/","title":{"rendered":"Lubbock celebrates service and engagement at 806 Serve Fest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; The Volunteer Center of Lubbock hosted its 806 Serve Fest on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The free event featured live music, food trucks, family activities and the chance to meet nonprofits across the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">While the event is meant for families to have fun and meet new people within the community, Emily Smith, executive director of the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, said the event provides an opportunity to speak to organizations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWell one of the things we constantly hear from our agency partners is that they need volunteers, they don\u2019t have enough volunteers, and so this is a great way for them to come out here, and we are bringing the people to them, so they can meet portal volunteers for their organization or potential donors, and so it\u2019s a great opportunity for the public to figure out what organization they might be interested the most or might have a connection to one that pulls that their heart strings,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Smith said those who were not able to make it out to the event but want to speak to an organization should call the Volunteer Center or any of the organizations they are interested in.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
