The New York Knicks<\/a>‘ fan base has been officially called out by a Texas congressman.<\/p>\n

Following the Knicks’ epic win over the Spurs<\/a> in Game 4 of the NBA<\/a> Finals, a 17-year-old was brutally attacked outside 235 West 35th Street. The New York Police Department said the victim was placed into a coma because of this horrific beatdown.<\/p>\n

“The content creator asked members of the crowd, ‘Who do you got?’ And one person said ‘I’ve got the Knicks.’ A person with the content creator, in an apparent attempt to provoke the crowd for social media, responded, ‘Spurs in 7.’ The person being interviewed responded, ‘Go Knicks, suck my (expletive).’ A fight then ensued,” the report from ABC Eyewitness News said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Police said the group of Knicks fans challenged the content creator, and the 17-year-old victim became involved and was assaulted. Authorities said the teen was kicked multiple times in the head and body.”<\/p>\n

Joaquin Castro, who represents Texas’s 20th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, reacted to this story on Friday night. He accused Knicks fans of being responsible for this senseless act of violence.<\/p>\n

“The way our San Antonio Spurs and their fans have been treated in New York City has been disgraceful,” Castro said.<\/a> “I realize it\u2019s a small slice of the New York fan base that\u2019s responsible but goddamn.”<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting the victim was actually a Knicks fan, so Castro’s post was a huge whiff to say the least.<\/p>\n

Knicks fans have already made headlines this Finals.<\/p>\n

After the Knicks won Game 4 on Wednesday night, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama<\/a> was hit in the head by what appeared to be an egg as he was walking back to his hotel.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re throwing eggs at Victor Wembanyama and beating up people to people wearing Spurs jerseys, just know that you are a disgrace,\u201d\u00a0ESPN’s Mike Greenberg said<\/a>. \u201cNot just a disgrace to the city, you\u2019re a disgrace to yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

There’s no question New York City will be rocking if the Knicks win Game 5 this Saturday and clinch their first championship since 1973.<\/p>\n

We’re just hoping Knicks fans don’t cross the line with their postgame antics.<\/p>\n
