FORT WORTH, Texas \u2014 One woman thought she was taking a pill that would help her relax. She overdosed and died.<\/p>\n

Another became addicted to pain meds after a sports injury.<\/p>\n

These are some of the stories included in the new documentary \u201cDancing with Death.\u201d The film chronicles the fentanyl crisis in North Texas and Oklahoma. It is a collaborative project between Fort Worth\u2019s Recovery Resource Council, Dallas Area Drug Prevention Partnership and Texoma High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas.<\/p>\n

Recovery Resource Council decided to develop the documentary to raise awareness about the fentanyl crisis in North Texas, said June Deibel, Recovery Resource Council\u2019s director of community engagement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we can build awareness and highlight some of these stories and take some of the stigma away, that awareness can save lives,\u201d Deibel said.<\/p>\n

The documentary will be screened at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Amon Carter Center at Lena Pope, and will be followed by a panel discussion featuring the organizations and individuals connected to the film. The screening is free and open to the public, and those interested in attending can register in advance at https:\/\/dwdtarrantcounty.eventbrite.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really want people to come away with a feeling of hope and knowing there are resources out there,\u201d Deibel said. \u201cIt\u2019s not to scare people; it\u2019s to provide that hope.\u201d<\/p>\n
