{"id":336401,"date":"2026-06-14T22:38:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T22:38:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/336401\/"},"modified":"2026-06-14T22:38:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T22:38:12","slug":"toddler-dies-in-northwest-harris-county-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/336401\/","title":{"rendered":"Toddler dies in northwest Harris County crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police Car (KPRC\/Click2Houston.com)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">HARRIS COUNTY, Texas \u2013 The Harris County Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating after a 2-year-old died in the crash that happened earlier Saturday afternoon in the Hockley area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">In a post on X, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated a U-Haul\u2019s driver may have fallen asleep and crossed into the path of the Jeep with two children and their mother inside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">It happened intersection of Roberts Road and FM-2920. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The Jeep tried to avoid the truck and went into a ditch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The mother, an 8-month-old child, and U-Haul\u2019s driver went to the hospital with minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The 2-year-old passed away at the scene.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HCSO_VCD?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">@HCSO_VCD<\/a> is completing a fatal crash investigation at the intersection of Roberts Rd and FM-2920. <\/p>\n<p>A U-Haul truck was traveling westbound and a Jeep with two children and their mother were traveling eastbound. Driver of the U-Haul possibly fell asleep, crossed lanes.
