HOUSTON \u2013 A passenger was killed, and a driver was critically injured after a vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire along Memorial Drive Monday morning, according to Houston police.<\/p>\n
The crash happened around 12:38 a.m. when a white sedan was traveling eastbound on Memorial Drive. Investigators said the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a tree.<\/p>\n
The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire.<\/p>\n
Houston Fire Department crews responded to the scene, extinguished the flames, and transported the driver to an area hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n
A passenger in the vehicle died at the scene.<\/p>\n
Authorities said the victims are believed to be one male and one female, though their identities have not been released.<\/p>\n
Due to the extensive fire damage, investigators have not been able to determine the make or model of the vehicle.<\/p>\n
