Arlington Voters Approve Street Maintenance Sales Tax Renewal<\/a><\/p>\nAccording to unofficial vote totals from Tarrant County elections:<\/p>\n
Mayor: Jim Ross was re-elected to his third and final term as Mayor with 50.04% of the vote. Challenger Steve Cavender received 39.45% of the vote. The race had three other challengers, Hunter Crow, Shaun Mallory and C. Phillip Dobson.<\/p>\n
District 3: Incumbent Nikkie Hunter was re-elected to her third and final term as City Council District 3 representative with 73.79% of the vote. Challenger Kelly R. Burke received 26.21% of the vote.<\/p>\n
District 4: Tom Ware was elected as the new City Council District 4 representative with 51.18% of the vote. Candidates Rojo Meixueiro and Lisa J. Ventura received 25.23% and 23.59% of the vote, respectively. District 4 Representative Andrew Piel held the seat for the past seven years as was term limited.<\/p>\n
District 5: Brittney Garcia-Dumas was elected as the new City Council District 5 representative with 55.15% of the vote. Incumbent City Council Representative Rebecca Boxall received 44.85% of the vote. Boxall held the seat for the past five years.<\/p>\n
District 8: None of the three candidates for the open City Council District 8 At-Large seat received more than 50% of the vote in the May 2 election. In that election, Jason Shelton received 38.27% of the vote, Melody Fowler received 46.91% of the vote and Corey Harris received 14.82% of the vote.<\/p>\n
Run-Off Election Update: A run-off election was held June 13 for Shelton and Fowler. Shelton was elected to the seat with 62.8% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals from Tarrant County. Fowler received 37.2% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals.<\/p>\n
District 8 Representative Dr. Barbara Odom-Wesley held the seat for the past seven years and was term limited.<\/p>\n
The Mayor and City Council representatives for Districts 3, 4 and 5 were sworn in at the May 12 City Council meeting. The District 8 representative will be sworn in at the June 23 Council meeting.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Published on June 15, 2026
