The contract also includes design of a shared-use path that would be built along a utility easement connecting Park Street to Timber Trail. Pedestrians will be able to travel between Park Street and Buttercup Creek Boulevard using that path and the sidewalk along Timber Trail and Twin Oak Trail.

Diving in deeper

When the city adopted its mobility master plan in 2023, it designated a shared-use path along Park Street as a primary, or high-priority, trail, and a path along Buttercup Creek Boulevard as a secondary, or lower-priority, trail, city documents state. However, a feasibility study determined that Buttercup Creek Boulevard has more bike and pedestrian traffic, offers more connections to parks and other trails, and has more available right of way for development. Following that study, City Council approved a change of plans in March to prioritize Buttercup Creek Boulevard over Park Street.

Randy Lueders, director of engineering and capital projects for the city, noted that the Buttercup Creek Boulevard shared-use path will connect to the Bell District.

Council member Darron Jurajda noted that issues like the lack of available right of way make a potential shared-use path along Park Street more difficult to build than one along Buttercup Creek Boulevard.

“Park Street is very hard,” Jurajda said. “This is great. I am ecstatic to see this moving forward.”

The funding source

Funding for the design phase of the project will come from the Community Development Corp. Type B Board, which approved up to $750,000 in June 2025 to fund the design of a shared-use path along either Park Street or Buttercup Creek Boulevard, city documents state.

Construction funding has yet to be identified, but the Buttercup Creek Boulevard shared-use path is expected to cost significantly less than one along Park Street, Lueders said.

“>

Cedar Park City Council approved a $680,993 contract with engineering firm Kimley-Horn on June 11 for the design…

[11
132,134,133,27070,120551,59343,120549,120550
post-337990","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-austin","tag-austin","tag-austin-headlines","tag-austin-news","tag-bell-district","tag-buttercup-creek-boulevard-construction","tag-cedar-park-bike-paths","tag-cedar-park-walking-trails","tag-hike-and-bike-paths
["GET
