Electronics manufacturer Celestica is solidifying its presence in Richardson with a new 10-year property lease, the city announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The company will lease a 343,000-square-foot building still under construction at 2801 Telecom Parkway to support its work developing data center infrastructure for AI, cloud computing and other advanced technologies.<\/p>\n
The city expects the project to create about 2,300 permanent jobs over the next two years. Celestica plans to invest $300 million in that time to support tenant improvements and equipment installation at the facility.<\/p>\n
The company is also renewing its lease of two existing buildings through 2036, bringing Celestica\u2019s total occupancy at the site to about 1 million square feet.<\/p>\n
The sprawling campus of office and industrial buildings was home to Fujitsu Network Communications for decades before the IT company, now operating as 1Finity Americas, relocated its North American headquarters to another site in Richardson last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis campus is an important part of Richardson\u2019s history,\u201d City Manager Don Magner said. \u201cWith Celestica\u2019s investment here, it\u2019ll be also an important part of our future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Magner said Celestica\u2019s operations align with the city\u2019s strategic plan for economic development, which targets industries including advanced manufacturing and technology.<\/p>\n
The city approved a $3 million tenant improvement grant for Celestica\u2019s expansion, which it said is crafted around the manufacturer\u2019s \u201ccommitments to long-term occupancy, capital investment plans and job creation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Celestica has been headquartered in Richardson since 2022. The company\u2019s expansion speaks to its belief in the city\u2019s \u201ctech-forward infrastructure\u201d and \u201ctop-tier talent,\u201d Celestica CEO Yann Etienvre said in a statement.<\/p>\n
