{"id":340150,"date":"2026-06-17T18:33:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T18:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/340150\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T18:33:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T18:33:10","slug":"austin-tech-mogul-josua-baer-killed-in-texas-plane-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/340150\/","title":{"rendered":"Austin tech mogul Josua Baer killed in Texas plane crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An instrumental entrepreneur and CEO who&#8217;s credited with spearheading much of Austin&#8217;s tech boom has reportedly been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/article\/crews-rush-to-rescue-passengers-after-small-plane-22308874.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">killed in a plane crash in Laredo<\/a> late Tuesday, June 16,<\/p>\n<p>The Laredo Police Department <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/laredopd\/videos\/1743393080167846\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">confirmed in a press conference<\/a> on Wednesday, June 17, that one person was killed due to the crash, and a second patient \u2014 traveling in a car that was struck by the plane \u2014 was hospitalized and is in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed on social media Wednesday it would be investigating Tuesday&#8217;s crash, with Laredo Police separately confirming all investigations involving plane crashes fall under the jurisdiction of the NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>State Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) eulogized\u00a0Baer\u00a0in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SenatorTedCruz\/posts\/pfbid0q17fBqTgLA1bQ9RJd2iuRzTjj2vGgg7BdXvacPXZ7pLtuSmX3KSwX1SEsoapdbnBl?rdid=xunHaIFgymg2PUm2\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">social media post<\/a>,\u00a0referring to him as &#8220;one of the most significant leaders driving innovation and entrepreneurship&#8221; in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In Texas, he made our state a global leader,&#8221; Cruz wrote. &#8220;His impact was incalculable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>MySA reached out to Capital Factory Wednesday afternoon for confirmation and a statement on\u00a0Baer&#8217;s reported death.
