PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN<\/a>) \u2014 A search is underway after a Texas fugitive was seen at a lodge in rural Curry County.<\/p>\n

The Curry County Sheriff\u2019s Office issued a press release Wednesday afternoon identifying the suspect as Kenneth Leatherwood of Bastrop, Texas. He is wanted for sex crimes with a minor, as well as a stolen vehicle and reportedly stolen weapons.<\/p>\n

The situation began on June 16 at the Lucas Lodge in Ageness, Oregon, where Leatherwood was reportedly staying.<\/p>\n

Lodge managers posted on Facebook that approximately 60 law enforcement officers arrived Tuesday night after a guest with Texas license plates apparently barricaded himself inside a cabin.<\/p>\n

They said he arrived on Monday without a cellphone. By Tuesday morning, he reportedly said he was unable to start his truck because the vehicle\u2019s OnStar system had locked it. Law enforcement arrived a short time later. They heard his dog barking inside a cabin, where they assumed Leatherwood was as well. When they entered the cabin, only the dog was present.<\/p>\n

Leatherwood is believed to have left the lodge on foot. He is a white male in his late thirties, according to law enforcement. He is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds, has brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing an ivory colored t-shirt, blue jeans and cowboy boots.<\/p>\n

Anyone who sees Leatherwood is asked not to approach him, as he is believed to be armed and possibly dangerous.<\/p>\n
