<\/p>\n ARLINGTON, Texas \u2013 UT Arlington men’s basketball (1-0) rolled over UNT Dallas (1-2) 91-40 in the season-opener on Monday night from the College Park Center. Preseason All-WAC selection Raysean Seamster<\/a> led the way for the Mavs, recording his first career double-double with 17 points (on 8-of-13 from the floor), 15 rebounds and added a pair of assists in the win.<\/p>\n Ten Mavs in all made their UTA debuts, while sophomore returner Cameron Jackson<\/a> made his first career start, totaling seven points, six boards and three blocks in 18 minutes of action. Four Mavericks scored in double figures, as guard Bahsil Laster<\/a> had 15 off the bench, while North Texas transfer Tyran Mason<\/a> and Arkansas transfer Cash Chavis<\/a> scored a dozen apiece. Mason was just one rebound shy of a double-double of his own.<\/p>\n “Yeah, I’m pleased with how we started the game,” head coach KT Turner<\/a> said following the win on Monday night. “I felt like we came out and set the tone. Our defense was very aggressive and that’s how we want to play. I think they only had two field goals at halftime if I’m not mistaken, but I’m just pleased at how we played. I thought we shared the ball, we got out in transition and got some easy looks. I’m glad with how we’re playing right now.”<\/p>\n Seamster scored the first bucket of the 2025-26 season for the Mavericks, as they raced out to an 11-3 lead to open the game. It was a sign of things to come, as UTA’s smothering defense held the visiting Trailblazers to just 14 points on 8.7% shooting in the opening half (2-for-23). Seamster had 13 of his 15 points in the first half.\\<\/p>\n The Mavs held UNT Dallas without a field goal for over 16 minutes spanning most of the first half and the first three-plus minutes of the second. UTA was on cruise control in the second half, holding the Trailblazers to another five-and-a-half minutes without a field goal.<\/p>\n The Mavericks led by as many as 53 in the second half, and finished with a 91-40 victory, holding their opponent to the third-lowest point total in program history. It marked the fourth time in program history that they have allowed 40 points to an opponent (2012 vs. Sam Houston, 2015 vs. Grambling and 2015 again vs. Sul Ross State).<\/p>\n UTA now embarks on its first road trip of the season, as the Mavs head to the Land of Enchantment to take on New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. from The Pit in Albuquerque.
