\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPflugerville ISD is slated to see a $15.6 million budget shortfall in 2026-27, following the board of trustees’<\/a> adoption of the budget<\/a> June 18.<\/p>\n

Breaking it down<\/p>\n

According to Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Land, PfISD’s general fund budget is projected to consist of $296.8 million worth of revenues against $311.4 million worth of expenditures and $1 million in other uses, resulting in the $15.6 million shortfall.<\/p>\n

“This is not anything new; we have discussed this deficit throughout the budget development process,” Land said. “It is an indication and it does reflect the ongoing gap that we see between revenue versus our growing expenditures.”<\/p>\n

What else? <\/p>\n

Land said the food service budget proposes $16.3 million in revenues and $16.1 million in expenditures, resulting in a surplus of $173,000. The debt service budget includes $86.2 million in expenditures and $86.6 million in revenues, resulting in a surplus of $429,000.<\/p>\n

Some context <\/p>\n

According to Land, some of the assumptions that went into the 2026-27 budget projections included:<\/p>\n

An enrollment of 24,521 studentsAn average daily attendance of 22,314, or 91%An unchanged tax rate of $1.1069, consisting of $0.7869 for maintenance & operations and $0.3200 for interest & sinkingA 0.25% growth in property valuesA stabilization fund of $15 million, or funds set aside for additional expenditures”As always, the budget is built using the most current information and these variables are expected to change,” Land said. “As we go throughout the year, we realize the actual amounts for some of these assumptions. Of course, these estimates will impact state and local funding calculations.”<\/p>\n
