It appears the man may have barricaded himself before police entered the home located in the 100 block of Red Hawk Ridge, just off Hardy Oak Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>When police eventually entered the home, they found the suspected shooter\u00a0dead from an inflicted gunshot wound, McManus said.<\/p>\n<p>The police chief also said two children were in the home, but the police were able to safely remove them.<\/p>\n<p>The injured officer was shot in the torso and taken into surgery, but McManus said it is believed that none of the officer&#8217;s major organs were wounded.<\/p>\n<p>Officials have not identified the officer, the victim or the shooter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s Note:\u00a0Help is available if you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts or mental health matters. You can also text &#8220;MHA&#8221; to 741-741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.<\/p>\n<p>A person is barricaded inside a home in a Stone Oak neighborhood after San Antonio police responded to a call before an officer was shot.<\/p>\n<p>The call for a shooting was reportedly made at about 12:30\u00a0p.m. in the 100 block of Red Hawk Ridge, according <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2026\/06\/19\/barricaded-suspect-shoots-sapd-officer-on-far-north-side-police-say\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">to multiple reports<\/a>, which is near Hardy Oak Elementary School and Lopez Middle School. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus confirmed the shooting in a post on X and said an officer had been shot and a person has barricaded themselves inside a home. &#8220;SWAT\/Negotiators on scene,&#8221; McManus said in the post. &#8220;Scene still extremely active.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There are no additional details on if there were any other injuries from the shooting. There is also no information on the condition of the officer at this time. There was no mention if any of the schools in the area needed to be put on lockdown.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Officials said\u00a0McManus was going to update information at some point on-scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is a developing story.
