A San Antonio Police Department officer was shot and taken to an area hospital after responding to a domestic disturbance that turned into a deadly shooting on Friday, June 19, in a Stone Oak area, according to SAPD Chief William McManus.<\/p>\n
McManus said a man shot and killed his “soon-to-be-estranged” wife and also shot the officer before killing himself at around noon Friday. It appears the man may have barricaded himself before police entered the home located in the 100 block of Red Hawk Ridge, just off Hardy Oak Boulevard.<\/p>\n
When police eventually entered the home, they found the suspected shooter\u00a0dead from an inflicted gunshot wound, McManus said.<\/p>\n
The police chief also said two children were in the home, but the police were able to safely remove them.<\/p>\n
The injured officer was shot in the torso and taken into surgery, but McManus said it is believed that none of the officer’s major organs were wounded.<\/p>\n
Officials have not identified the officer, the victim or the shooter.\u00a0<\/p>\n
