<\/p>\nMore than 1,000 families received food and fresh produce in Robstown as volunteers helped distribute supplies during Summer of Sharing.<\/p>\n
ROBSTOWN, Texas \u2014 More than 1,000 Coastal Bend families received food assistance Friday during the annual Summer of Sharing Mobile Food Distribution in Robstown.<\/p>\n
The Coastal Bend Food Bank partnered with H-E-B to host the event at the Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds, where families received nutritious food, fresh produce and other essential items.<\/p>\n

Despite rainy weather throughout the day, volunteers worked to ensure food reached those in need.<\/p>\n
According to Coastal Bend Food Bank Executive Director Bea Hanson, community volunteers played a critical role in making the distribution possible.<\/p>\n
“The Food Bank always needs volunteers,” Hanson said. “We had the volunteers from H-E-B put together the boxes for today. They did 1,500 boxes in an hour and 15 minutes. That’s what happens when people get together and volunteer and help us move the food.”<\/p>\n
Hanson said events like Summer of Sharing help meet a growing need across the Coastal Bend, especially during the summer months when many families face additional food expenses.<\/p>\n
Dozens of volunteers assisted with assembling food boxes, directing traffic and loading supplies into vehicles throughout the distribution.<\/p>\n
Hanson, who was also celebrating her birthday Friday, thanked everyone who braved the weather to support the event and help bring food and hope to local families.<\/p>\n
The annual partnership between the Coastal Bend Food Bank and H-E-B continues to provide critical assistance to communities across South Texas.<\/p>\n
