Witnesses report Ford SUV launched from service road and hit another vehicle with four people inside<\/p>\n

HOUSTON \u2013 Houston police are investigating a major crash that happened around 2:17 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 (East Freeway) between Waco Street and Lockwood Drive.<\/p>\n

Witnesses told investigators a blue Ford SUV was speeding along the nearby service road when the driver lost control. The SUV then launched over an embankment, landed on the freeway, and collided with a second vehicle carrying four occupants, police said.<\/p>\n

Two people from the struck vehicle were taken to the hospital and were reported in stable condition. The SUV\u2019s driver was transported in critical condition.<\/p>\n

Police said speed appears to have contributed to the crash, and it was not immediately clear whether alcohol or drugs were involved. <\/p>\n

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division at 713-247-4072.<\/p>\n
