TEXAS CITY, Texas \u2013 A shelter-in-place order has been issued for parts of Texas City after a reported fire at the Marathon oil refinery, according to the Texas City Police Department.<\/p>\n
Police said the shelter-in-place area includes locations from 14th Street to 34th. Residents are urged to remain indoors until conditions improve and an all-clear is issued.<\/p>\n
\u201cA shelter in place was originally issued for Bay Street to SH-146 after a fire was reported at Marathon this morning. The fire, combined with a south wind, caused a smoky plume to drift across the city,\u201d a city spokesperson said in an update to KPRC 2.<\/p>\n
Emergency responders are on scene and are closely monitoring the situation, including air quality, police said. Officials said updates will be posted as soon as they become available.<\/p>\n
