{"id":344953,"date":"2026-06-21T19:26:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T19:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/344953\/"},"modified":"2026-06-21T19:26:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T19:26:07","slug":"texas-adds-kent-state-of-sawyer-solitaria-to-2026-transfer-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/344953\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas adds Kent State OF Sawyer\u00a0Solitaria to 2026 transfer class"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five days after its season ended with a shutout loss in the College World Series,\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/hookem\/baseball\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Texas baseball<\/a> team has added another bat to its lineup.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, former Kent State outfielder Sawyer\u00a0Solitaria <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DZ2411uFfAE\/?igsh=MTNldXVuOWk5Y2ptZQ%3D%3D\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">announced that he will transfer to Texas<\/a>.\u00a0Solitaria just hit .294 with a team-high 16 homers, 47\u00a0RBIs and 49 runs scored during his sophomore season, and the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Ohio native was 11-for-13 on his attempted steals. Solitaria also went 7-for-15 with four RBIs, six runs and one homer during four games against SEC representatives Tennessee and LSU.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively,\u00a0Solitaria was Kent State&#8217;s starting right fielder in all 57 of its games this season. He committed five errors while recording two assists.<\/p>\n<p>Texas has holes to fill in its outfield since Aiden Robbins is a likely draft pick and Dariyan Pendergrass has exhausted his eligibility. But Anthony Pack Jr. just wrapped up\u00a0a breakout campaign as a freshman, both Ashton Larson and Maddox Monsour got playing time in the outfielder this past season and the Longhorns will soon add incoming freshman Trent Maybin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/sports\/college\/longhorns\/baseball\/2024\/09\/19\/texas-baseball-trenton-maybin-2026-recruiting-longhorns\/75300218007\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">who is the son of former major league outfielder Cameron Maybin<\/a>, to their roster.
