(KSAT)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">SAN ANTONIO \u2013 Former San Antonio police officer James Brennand is expected back in court Monday morning for what could be his final hearing before trial in the 2022 shooting of then-17-year-old Erik Cantu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Brennand is scheduled to appear in the 9 a.m. docket for a pretrial hearing in Bexar County court. The hearing will be livestreamed in this article. Delays are possible; if there\u2019s no livestream available, check back at a later time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Last month, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2026\/05\/11\/ex-san-antonio-police-officer-james-brennand-scheduled-to-make-pre-trial-court-appearance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2026\/05\/11\/ex-san-antonio-police-officer-james-brennand-scheduled-to-make-pre-trial-court-appearance\/\">judge allowed San Antonio police internal affairs files to be turned over<\/a> to Brennand\u2019s defense team under a protective order.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Brennand is charged with aggravated assault by a public servant in connection with the shooting.
