PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN<\/a>) \u2014 Nearly a dozen U.S. cities are welcoming the initial wave of combined stores featuring two once-prominent brands that previously filed for bankruptcy.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Bed Bath & Beyond announced it was acquiring<\/a> The Container Store. Both companies filed for<\/a> bankruptcy<\/a> in 2023. <\/p>\n

The former has been rebounding after Overstock.com bought the Bed Bath & Beyond brand name and relaunched it as an online store and app. Last year, it was announced that physical Bed Bath & Beyond stores would be opening<\/a> under the Brand House Collective Inc. umbrella. The company made a stir when Executive Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis<\/a>, also the co-founder and now-retired CEO of Camping World<\/a>, said Bed Bath & Beyond stores wouldn\u2019t open in California<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Multiple California cities are, however, among the newest homes for Bed Bath & Beyond + The Container Store locations. <\/p>\n

22 cities among \u2018first phase\u2019 of rollout<\/p>\n

The \u201cco-branded\u201d stores are \u201cwelcoming customers \u2026 immediately,\u201d Beyond said in a Thursday press release<\/a>. These Bed Bath & Beyond + The Container Store locations are meant to make \u201ca more connected home shopping experience.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cOur customers don\u2019t think about their homes in categories,\u201d Lemonis said in a statement. \u201cFor decades, customers have had to visit multiple retailers, websites and service providers to complete a single home project. One company for bedding, another for storage, another for closets, another for installation. That model no longer works.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first combo location opened in Fort Worth, Texas, in May<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Twenty-two more stores are among the \u201cfirst phase\u201d of what is expected to be a nationwide rollout. These locations were said to be welcoming customers \u201cimmediately\u201d: <\/p>\n

The \u201cco-branded\u201d retailer is expected to continue opening converted stores throughout the upcoming weeks, according to company leaders. <\/p>\n

Each store is expected to match the community that it\u2019s in, reflecting \u201chow people actually live in each market,\u201d Lemonis said. <\/p>\n

Where additional co-branded stores could open soon<\/p>\n

In late April, The Container Store announced an \u201coverhaul\u201d of 98<\/a> of its locations in order to make way for the new combined retail concept. <\/p>\n

Now that 23 stores have been rebranded, the remaining set to be reopened are in: <\/p>\n

Arizona: Glendale, Phoenix (20th Street and N. Scottsdale Road), Tucson<\/p>\n

California: Corte Madera, Palo Alto, Sacramento, San Diego, El Segundo, San Francisco, San Jose, San Mateo, Walnut Creek, Woodland Hills<\/p>\n

Colorado: Denver and Broomfield<\/p>\n

Delaware: Newark<\/p>\n

Florida: Boca Raton, Hallandale Beach, Miami, Orlando, Palm Beach Gardens, Pembroke Pines, Tampa<\/p>\n

Georgia: Alpharetta and Atlanta<\/p>\n

Illinois: Schaumburg<\/p>\n

Indiana: Indianapolis<\/p>\n

Iowa: West Des Moines<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear when exactly the reformatted stores will open, but Beyond said in a press release that the transitions would take place \u201cover the following months.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bed Bath & Beyond\u2019s rebound continues<\/p>\n

In addition to The Container Store, Bed Bath & Beyond has also acquired or announced plans to acquire Fathom<\/a>, a real estate services platform; Installed Right<\/a> and SFV Services<\/a>; and the assets of F9 Brands, Inc.<\/a>, including Cabinets To Go and Lumber Liquidators<\/a>. Additionally, Bed Bath & Beyond unveiled a strategic partnership with financial services company Bilt<\/a>, as part of its \u201cEverything Home\u201d strategy. <\/p>\n

In 2025, Beyond took an ownership stake<\/a> in Kirkland\u2019s Inc., a home decor chain with around 300 stores nationwide. Kirkland\u2019s then rebranded as The Brand House Collective, and existing stores were slated to be converted<\/a> to Bed Bath & Beyond stores.<\/p>\n
