Clive Davis, the iconic music industry producer who discovered singer Whitney Houston and help launch several other musicians\u2019 careers, including Bruce Springsteen, Janis Joplin and Alicia Keys, has died.<\/p>\n
David died in New York on Monday morning, TMZ<\/a> reported. He was 94. No cause of death was given, but TMZ reported that Davis was hospitalized earlier this month with a respiratory infection, but was released on June 4.<\/p>\n ForbesJames Burrows, \u2018Cheers\u2019 Co-Creator And \u2018Friends\u2019 Director, Dies At 85By Tim Lammers<\/a><\/p>\n Davis was enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. In addition to signing Houston at age 19, Davis fostered the careers of such major artists as Rod Stewart, Christina Aguilera, The Kinks, Carlos Santana, Barry Manilow and Aretha Franklin.<\/p>\n Born Clive Jay Davis on April 4, 1932 in New York City, Davis lost both of his parents while he was still a teenager. After moving in with his sister in Queens, Davis attended New York University College of Arts & Science, where he earned a degree in political science. Davis also attended the red carpet premiere of The Boss\u2019 biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere in September 2025.<\/p>\n The film stars Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen during the recording of his famed album, Nebraska, in 1982. Davis is played by Paul Chepikian in an uncredited role in the film.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you sign an artist, you feel he is unique, you never know \u2014 and I\u2019m telling you the real truth \u2014 you never know how far their career will go,\u201d Davis told ABC\u2019s Good Morning America<\/a> on the red carpet of the Spingsteen biopic. \u201cTo see the worldwide impact that Bruce has had on people, their lives, their thoughts, it\u2019s very touching.\u201d<\/p>\n Davis is survived by three sons and a daughter.<\/p>\n ForbesTom Dreesen, Comedian And Opening Act For Frank Sinatra, Dies At 86By Tim Lammers<\/a>
