GORGEOUS CONDITIONS OUT THERE NOW AND HIGH PRESSURE IS STILL IN CONTROL, MEANING THAT WE’RE STILL LOOKING AT THOSE CLEAR SKIES GIVING WAY TO THAT PICTURE THAT YOU SEE RIGHT THERE BEHIND ME, ALONG WITH SOME PRETTY MILD TEMPERATURES HERE AS WELL. BIGGER PICTURE SHOWING YOU THAT AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE THAT BASICALLY IS JUST SITTING NEARLY ON TOP OF US HERE. IT’S JUST DUE NORTH OF US HERE AT THE MOMENT, AS A MATTER OF FACT. AND YOU ZOOM IN TOWARDS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA AND YOU SEE THAT SKIES, FOR THE MOST PART, ARE JUST IN GENERAL JUST LOOKING OVERALL CLEAR AND QUIET WITH TEMPERATURES VERY COMFORTABLE SITTING CURRENTLY INTO THE LOW TO MID 60S ACROSS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA. BUT I DO EXPECT OUR LOWS THOUGH FOR TONIGHT THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING TO DROP INTO THE LOWER 40S ON THE NORTH SHORE. AND THEN WE START TO WARM UP INTO THE 50S FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. LOWER 60S DO RETURN FRIDAY AND ALSO INTO THE WEEKEND HERE COMING UP. MEANWHILE, SOUTH SHORE LOW TEMPERATURES TOMORROW MORNING, WAKING UP INTO THE LOWER 50S, UPPER 50S ON WEDNESDAY. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT WE’RE STARTING THAT WARM UP TREND HERE IN THE MORNING, FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND, AS TEMPERATURES WILL WARM UP INTO THOSE MID 60S. BUT I DO EXPECT ALL LOCATIONS TOMORROW IN SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA TO REACH THOSE LOW TO MID 70S DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS. SO ANOTHER MILD DAY IS COMING UP. AND SPEAKING OF MILD, IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL STAY THAT WAY THROUGH TUESDAY. EVEN WARMER CONDITIONS COMING UP, HIGHS REACHING THOSE LOW 80S WEDNESDAY THROUGH AT LEAST SATURDAY. THERE’S GOING TO BE A COLD FRONT REALLY DROPPING DOWN THESE TEMPERATURES INTO THE LOW 70S. HOWEVER, AS WE HEAD INTO SUNDAY, I’LL SHOW YOU THAT HERE COMING UP IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. BUT YOU CAN SEE AS WE HEAD INTO FUTURECAST SKIES WILL CONTINUE TO REMAIN QUIET AND JUST OVERALL PRETTY CLEAR ACROSS THE AREA. COULD SEE A COUPLE OF CLOUDS NEAR THE COAST AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW AFTERNOON. BUT OVERALL, I’M JUST GOING TO GO WITH YET ANOTHER MOSTLY SUNNY AND JUST OVERALL TRANQUIL DAY. BUT YOU CAN SEE HEADING INTO TOMORROW NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY, CLEAR SKIES AGAIN. MAYBE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SOME FOG DEVELOPMENT IN SOME ISOLATED LOCATIONS, AND YOU CAN SEE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. ON WEDNESDAY WE START TO TURN A LITTLE BIT MORE IN THE PARTLY CLOUDY SIDE OF THINGS, SO MAYBE A FEW MORE CLOUDS BEGIN TO INCREASE INTO THE PICTURE. BUT I’M NOT REALLY EXPECTING RAIN CHANCES TO GO UP UNTIL MAYBE ON THURSDAY AT 30%, AND THEN MAYBE ANOTHER SLIGHT CHANCE COMING UP LATER IN THE WEEK, SAY AROUND SATURDAY HERE OF THIS WEEKEND. AND THAT’S ALL THANKS TO THIS NEXT DISTURBANCE THAT I’M WATCHING. BUT IT’S A VERY WEAK DISTURBANCE. IT’S KIND OF ACTUALLY ASSOCIATED WITH A FRONTAL BOUNDARY HERE. IT LOOKS LIKE HEADING INTO FRIDAY, WHICH IS WHY WE DO EXPECT THE RAIN CHANCES MAYBE TO GO UP JUST SLIGHTLY HERE FOR US. BUT THE BIGGER SYSTEM THAT I’M WATCHING IS THIS NEXT STRONG COLD FRONT THAT’S COMING INTO THE PICTURE ON SUNDAY. AND BEHIND IT, I DO EXPECT SOME MUCH COOLER AIR TO TAKE SHAPE, KNOCKING DOWN OUR TEMPERATURES FOR BOTH OUR AFTERNOON HIGHS AND LOWS. AND CHECK THIS OUT. HIGH PRESSURE ALSO IN PLACE TOO. SO THAT’S GOING TO HELP REINFORCE THE DRY CLEAR AIR AND LOTS OF SUNSHINE AS WE HEAD INTO NEXT WEEK AS WELL. COME FORECAST. LOOKS GOOD, COMFORTABLE, JUST PLEASANT. TOMORROW THROUGH THURSDAY, BUT THE HUMIDITY DOES INCREASE A LITTLE BIT MORE AS WE HEAD INTO FRIDAY, WHICH IS WHY I’M GOING TO GO. OVERALL, A MUGGY SCALE HERE TO END THE WORKWEEK. NOW, AS FAR AS THE TROPICS GO, EVERYTHING IS QUIET. I’M NOT EXPECTING ANY TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT COMING UP OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS, SO THINGS STAYING QUIET HERE. LOOKS LIKE AS WE WRAP UP THE HURRICANE SEASON COMING UP IN A FEW WEEKS. THAT’S A LOOK AT YOUR WDSU FIRST WARNING SEVEN DAY FORECAST. AND I’M GOING WITH MAINLY SUNNY SKIES THROUGH THURSDAY. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF A SHOWER FRIDAY, AND WARMER A

Trio of Texans lead UNO Privateers to upset over TCU Horned Frogs

Trio of Texans lead UNO Privateers to upset over TCU Horned Frogs

   Updated: 11:55 PM CST Nov 3, 2025

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

Outstanding debuts from seniors Jakevion Buckley and Coleton Benson and a perfect shooting night from MJ Thomas helped the University of New Orleans men’s basketball (1-0, 0-0 Southland) open its season with a 78-74 victory over TCU (0-1, 0-0) on Monday night in Fort Worth, Texas. Playing in his home state Benson scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down six rebounds – one board shy of matching his career high. His four 3-pointers came at key moments to slow down TCU’s momentum. Benson buried a 25-footer to give the Privateers a 17-point lead with 15:49 left in the game, then knocked down another triple 20 seconds later to make it 55-40. Shelbyville’s Buckley scored 13 points and matched his career high with nine assists. He went 7-of-10 from the free throw line and hit the final free throw that sealed UNO’s victory with two seconds to play. Benson’s fellow Texan also had four steals in the upset win. Denton native MJ Thomas was strong off the bench for UNO, shooting a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor for 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Thomas’ dunk, followed by Kedrick Osby’s steal and fast-break flush, gave UNO a 20-point first-half lead with 6:54 left in the period — its largest of the half. Osby finished his Privateer debut with eight first-half points and two rebounds. New Orleans led 44-28 at halftime after shooting 55.9 percent from the floor and holding TCU to 32.4 percent. The lead grew to as much as 21 with 7:24 to play, but the Horned Frogs wouldn’t go down without a fight. Micha Robinson knocked down a pair of free throws to cut UNO’s lead to two with 1:20 left. TJ Cope answered with a drive and score to make it 74-70 UNO with 1:06 remaining. Buckley and Benson combined to knock down four free throws in the last 18 seconds to give UNO the win. New Orleans held TCU to 38.8 percent shooting (26 of 67) and 11.1 percent from 3-point range (3 of 27) while outrebounding the Horned Frogs 39-28. The Privateers led for more than 35 minutes, with TCU’s only lead coming at 2-0 with 18:14 left in the first half. David Punch led TCU with 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting and eight rebounds. Monday’s victory was the Privateers’ first over a Power Four school since defeating Washington State 70-54 in 2016 and their first over a Big 12 opponent since beating Colorado 67-65 in 2007. It was just TCU’s sixth loss in 75 nonconference games under head coach Jamie Dixon and its first since 2022.
