On Monday, the\u00a0former Mavericks majority owner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/mavericks\/article\/dusty-may-mavericks-head-coach-22314950.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told The Dallas Morning News&#8217; Mike Curtis<\/a> that he had met May earlier in his coaching career.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is an Indiana grad. I met him way back when he worked as a student manager and video coach,&#8221; Cuban wrote in an email. &#8220;I&#8217;m sure he will do a great job.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>May has enjoyed an impressive rise through the coaching ranks. He was a student manager at Indiana from 1996 until he graduated\u00a0from the school in 2000. After a brief stint as a video coordinator and assistant coach at USC, May returned to his alma mater in 2002 and served as a video coordinator and assistant at Indiana from 2002-05.<\/p>\n<p>May later held assistant jobs at schools like Eastern Michigan, Murray State, UAB, Louisiana Tech and Florida. He took over as Florida Atlantic&#8217;s head coach in 2018, leading the school to the Final Four five years later.
