Six Flags Over Texas is preparing to add a new landmark to the skyline that can be seen from miles away and is expected to draw coaster enthusiasts from across the globe. At 309 feet tall, Tormenta Rampaging Run<\/a> introduces an entirely new category of roller coaster to the industry: the world’s first giga dive coaster.<\/p>\n

Opening June 26, the towering steel structure rises above the park’s Spain section, where guests will also find a newly built themed village known as Rancho de la Tormenta and a restaurant called Cocina Abuela. Together, the additions create an area inspired by Spain’s centuries-old running of the bulls tradition.<\/p>\n

A Ride Built Around Anticipation<\/p>\n

The experience begins with a slow climb more than 30 stories into the air. At the summit, riders are given sweeping views of North Texas before the train pauses above the edge.<\/p>\n

Then comes the moment the ride is designed around.<\/p>\n

Much like runners waiting for the release of the bulls, passengers are held briefly before plunging down a 95-degree drop that extends 285 feet toward the ground. The descent is steeper than vertical, creating a sensation rarely experienced even among veteran coaster riders.<\/p>\n

From there, the train races through a series of turns, inversions and drops intended to mirror the chaos and intensity of the famous Spanish event.<\/p>\n

Six World Records In One Attraction<\/p>\n

Tormenta Rampaging Run arrives with an ambitious claim of six world records attached to a single coaster.<\/p>\n

Among them are the titles for tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster in existence. Riders will reach speeds of up to 87 miles per hour while traveling along 4,199 feet of track. The coaster will also feature the tallest vertical loop ever built on any roller coaster at 179 feet, the highest Immelmann inversion at 218 feet and the world’s highest 95-degree beyond-vertical drop.<\/p>\n

Taken together, the statistics place the attraction among the most extreme roller coasters ever constructed.<\/p>\n

A New Signature For Arlington<\/p>\n

Major roller coasters have long served as calling cards for amusement parks, but Tormenta Rampaging Run represents something larger for Six Flags Over Texas. The project gives the park a headline attraction at a time when theme parks nationwide are competing for visitors with increasingly elaborate experiences.<\/p>\n

When the trains begin running on June 26, Tormenta Rampaging Run won’t just break records. It will establish a new benchmark for what a dive coaster can be.<\/p>\n
