SANTA TERESA, N.M. (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A 36-year-old man from Galveston was arrested in Santa Teresa after he allegedly stole a car in El Paso and then tried to cross the border to sell it in Mexico. <\/p>\n

According to Dona Ana County jail records, Hamo Amos was booked into jail and charged with receiving\/transferring a stolen vehicle and concealing identity on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The arrest report shows the charges stem from an incident that happened Tuesday night. <\/p>\n

According to the report, Amos was caught at around 9:50 p.m. trying to cross a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of El Paso into Mexico through the Santa Teresa port of entry.<\/p>\n

In the report, investigators described interviewing Amos, who allegedly admitted to his plan of taking the stolen vehicle to Mexico to sell it. <\/p>\n

Amos also reportedly said that he saw the vehicle was unlocked, he climbed in, drove away with his eyes set on crossing the border. <\/p>\n

During the interview process, investigators noted that Amos allegedly gave them several different names and dates of birth, and it wasn’t until they ran his fingerprints that they learned his true identity.<\/p>\n
