EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A power outage hit far east El Paso on Tuesday evening, leaving thousands of residents without power as triple-digit heat continues. <\/p>\n
According to El Paso Electric’s power outage map, over 4,000 customers near the intersection of Berryville and Pellicano are without power as of 6: 14 p.m. ,with an expected restoration time of 11:00 pm. <\/p>\n
Additionally, according to the outage map, there are about 21 outages in the area. <\/p>\n
In a statement to KFOX14\/CBS4, El Paso Electric confirmed the outages are heat-related. <\/p>\n
“Yes, current outages in far East El Paso are related to the ongoing extreme heat. At this time, there are 19 outages affecting approximately 4,632 customers across Texas and New Mexico. All available crews, along with additional personnel, are actively working to restore service as safely and quickly as possible. We will share updates as they become available,” EP Electric spokesperson said. <\/p>\n
The outages come as triple-digit temperatures are expected to continue throughout the week, with afternoon and early evening temperatures in El Paso forecasted to reach between 104 and 108 degrees.<\/p>\n
A Heat Advisory has been issued for portions of El Paso, Do\u00f1a Ana, and Luna counties that began at noon on Tuesday and will continue through 9 PM Wednesday.<\/p>\n
