{"id":348723,"date":"2026-06-24T17:13:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T17:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/348723\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T17:13:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T17:13:08","slug":"texas-basketball-dailyn-swain-ready-for-chicago-bulls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/348723\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas basketball: Dailyn Swain ready for Chicago Bulls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK\u00a0\u2014 Dailyn Swain has covered a lot of miles in his college career, from Xavier in the Big East to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/sports\/college\/longhorns\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">University of Texas<\/a> in the SEC, to now the NBA.<\/p>\n<p>But he\u2019s never experienced one thing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomething you might need to know,\u201d Swain said after being selected No. 15 overall by the Chicago Bulls in Tuesday\u2019s NBA draft, \u201cI\u2019ve never had deep dish pizza.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There will be no shortage of choices in the Windy City.<\/p>\n<p>Swain spent two seasons at Xavier before following coach Sean Miller to UT.\u00a0The 6-foot-6 All-SEC wing averaged 17.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists to help the Longhorns reach the Sweet 16. He became UT\u2019s 21st first-round pick in school history.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the Big East was my freshman year, so learning impact, how important that is and trying to get on the court any way I could as a freshman,\u201d Swain said when asked to describe his college journey. \u201cScrapping, being a scrappy guy, being a complimentary guy and doing what I had to do to play my role.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing to the SEC, I kind of became the guy, primary ball handler, scorer. I did a lot of the damage. All of them were steps in my career, and now I\u2019m ready to make this next step, reset back to being rookie and do everything I can to impact the game and get better every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Tuesday, the Bulls selected North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson with the fourth pick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great feeling, especially with a guy like that,\u201d Swain said. \u201cHe\u2019s an electric player. He harms a lot of energy, something that everybody can feed off of, especially with him being so young. He\u2019s going to be around the league a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While he finds a good pizza spot, Swain has another dilemma. His No. 3 jersey he wore at UT is currently taken by new teammate Josh Giddey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMan, I\u2019ll definitely ask,\u201d Swain said. \u201cMaybe he\u2019s feeling nice one time. But I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll be able to afford a No. 3 from a guy like him. He definitely deserves it, you know what I mean. He\u2019s on his way up in the league and he\u2019s been killing it.
