Surrounded by family and friends, the newly elected District 4 and 5 Council Representatives were sworn in during the May 12, 2026, evening City Council meeting. Tom Ware and Brittney Garcia-Dumas were elected May 2 to their first three-year terms to serve. Ware represents City Council District 4, which encompasses The Parks at Arlington Mall, a portion of the I-20 business corridor, and the training facilities for the Police and Fire departments. Garcia-Dumas represents District 5, which includes Downtown Arlington, City Hall, The University of Texas at Arlington, Central Library, and General Motors.<\/p>\n

Arlington City Council incumbent Nikkie Hunter was also sworn in during Tuesday\u2019s meeting. The District 3 City Council representative has served since 2021. District 3 represents the portion of the city bounded primarily by Matlock Road on the west and Pioneer Parkway on the north. District 3 includes a portion of the I-20 business corridor, the Arlington Municipal Airport, Tarrant County College, and the Arlington Highlands.<\/p>\n

Newly elected District 8 Council Representative Dr. Jason Shelton was sworn in during the June 23, 2026, evening City Council meeting. He was elected to the at-large seat, which represents the entire city, during a June 13 runoff election,<\/p>\n

Mayor Jim Ross was re-elected to his third and final term as Mayor. He has served as mayor since 2021.<\/p>\n
