<\/p>\nMayor Paulette Guajardo says the city’s annual celebration will feature a full day of family-friendly events capped by a fireworks show over the bay.<\/p>\n
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 Corpus Christi residents are invited to spend Independence Day along the bay as the city prepares for its annual Mayor’s Big Bang Fourth of July celebration.<\/p>\n
Mayor Paulette Guajardo said the event is one of the city’s most anticipated traditions, bringing families together to celebrate the nation’s birthday with fireworks, food and free activities.<\/p>\n

“This is a wonderful way to bring our city together and celebrate the freedoms that we have,” Guajardo said. “Come out, bring your families and make some great memories.”<\/p>\n
The celebration comes as the nation continues commemorating America’s 250th birthday, a milestone Guajardo called significant for both the country and the local community.<\/p>\n
“It’s a big milestone, and we’re very excited about that,” she said.<\/p>\n
Activities begin at 1 p.m. with the Coastal Comida Fest at Water’s Edge Park. The event will run until 10 p.m. and include food vendors, a beer garden, face painting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., giveaways and family-friendly entertainment throughout the day.<\/p>\n
The evening will conclude with the Mayor’s Big Bang fireworks display, scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. over Corpus Christi Bay. The fireworks will be synchronized with music.<\/p>\n
Guajardo said there are plenty of viewing opportunities along the city’s waterfront.<\/p>\n
“We’re so blessed to have such a beautiful seawall,” Guajardo said. “Anywhere along the seawall is going to be the best seat in town.”<\/p>\n
City leaders encourage residents and visitors to arrive early, enjoy the festivities and stay for the fireworks show.<\/p>\n
