San Antonio’s average high temperature has been 90.3 degrees this month – about 2 degrees cooler than the climate-normal.

However, temperatures on Friday and into the weekend are expected to increase, as high atmospheric pressure brings a more stagnant, summer weather pattern into the region. But when will the forecast become more active again? Here’s a look at what you can expect.

Like the past few mornings, Friday is expected to start with mostly cloudy skies in San Antonio, as temperatures hover in the mid-70s to near 80 degrees through 10 a.m. Skies will become sunny by the late morning and early afternoon, allowing temperatures to reach the lower 90s by 1 p.m.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to hit 94 or 95 degrees in the San Antonio metro area, just slightly above average for this time of year. It will be humid out, too, causing “feels like” temperatures to reach 101 to 103 degrees by 4-5 p.m.

Wind speeds will be quite breezy, coming in from the south at 15 to 20 mph throughout the afternoon and evening. Some gusts could rise close to 30 mph at times, especially during the evening. We won’t have any chances of rain throughout South and Central Texas.

Expect little change to the forecast for Saturday and Sunday. San Antonio will continue to experience cloudy mornings with temperatures in the mid-to upper 70s, followed by sunny afternoons in the mid-90s each day. Maximum heat index values are expected to be near 103 degrees.

Wind speeds will continue to play a factor throughout the weekend. By Sunday, sustained winds could reach 20 mph, with some occasional gusts rising close to 35 mph.

Quiet weather is expected to continue across South-Central Texas to start next week, with mostly sunny skies and highs expected to stay in the mid-90s. This is because of a strong system of high air pressure dominating the weather pattern, as it sits over Northeast Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri.

However, that high pressure is expected to move north into the Midwest by the middle of the week. That shift should ease its influence on South Texas, allowing a few scattered showers and storms to develop between Wednesday and Friday.

Overall rain chances, though, will be slim, with only a 20% chance of precipitation in San Antonio. Isolated rain chances could continue into the Fourth of July weekend, but chances will stay slim. Otherwise, the region will likely continue to see high temperatures in the mid-90s under partly sunny skies through the first week of July.

South Texas could be stuck in this relatively stagnant weather pattern for the next few weeks. According to long-range weather models, near-average temperatures are expected to continue through the middle of July with slightly above-average temps expected by the second half of the month.

Of course, forecasts can change quickly as new data becomes available.
