EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A woman from New Mexico was arrested at an El Paso border bridge after authorities said she tried to smuggle half a million dollars’ worth of drugs into the country. <\/p>\n

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection El Paso Field Office, on June 18, a New Mexico woman– her identity not released– was reportedly caught with 57.90 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside the body of a black SUV she was driving from Ciudad Juarez to El Paso through the Paso del Norte bridge in Downtown. <\/p>\n

The discovery was made after the vehicle was inspected a second time and a K9 sniffed out the drugs, which were packaged in multiple bundles.<\/p>\n

Federal authorities took the woman into custody. <\/p>\n
