A South Side coffee shop known for \u201cfamily, culture, and cari\u00f1o\u201d is closing its doors after a brief seven months. Besitos Caf\u00e9 at 1123 Nogalitos St. will shutter on July 12.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a heavy heart, we want to share that Besitos Caf\u00e9 will be closing its doors,\u201d wrote the caf\u00e9 in a Facebook statement<\/a>. \u201cThis decision was not an easy one. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every customer, friend, family member, and supporter who walked through our doors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Besitos said that the last few months had been slow for the new business. Despite pouring their hearts into the project, it wasn\u2019t \u201cable to make it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Devin Marie Morin and Eduardo Morin opened Besitos in November, 2025, serving coffee, breakfast tacos, and pan dulce. The culture part of their motto was not just seen in traditional beverages like caf\u00e9 de olla, champurado, arroz con leche, and Abuelitas hot chocolate. The shop served a variety of lattes with flavors such as churro, mazapan, Duvalin, and Sponch.<\/p>\n

The interior honored their Mexican heritage, too. A mural features two waltzing calacas and an ofrenda honors the family\u2019s ancestors. Neighborhood artists covered the walls with a rotating array of D\u00eda de los Muertos-themed works.While the Morins acknowledged the setback, they said they were grateful for Besitos\u2019 brief run.<\/p>\n
