Preliminary plans for The Ridge West at Camino Real were approved by the<\/a> Hays County Commissioners on Tuesday, marking another step in the area’s rapid residential growth. The development would bring 2,784 homes to a 532-acre site along High and Great Northern roads in both Kyle and Hays County Pct. 1, according to city documents.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Plans submitted to local officials call for the project to be constructed across 30 phases. Developers have also outlined space for an amenity center, parkland, open land and a network of neighborhood streets intended to serve future residents.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Walton Global announced the sale of 1,736 acres of property in Hays County to Wilson Capital & Carlton Capital Investments for the development of The Ridge, according to a news release. Walton Global said the Austin-based firms plan to ultimately develop a 6,200-home master-planned community on the site at full build-out.<\/p>\n

In addition to the residential housing, The Ridge is expected to deliver an elementary, middle and high school, community center sites, a fish camp, extensive resort-style amenities, commercial and retail, extensive green space, parks and trails.<\/p>\n

“This was a significant closing for Walton Global and a strong example of continued demand for well-located land in high-growth markets,” Rob Nixon, senior vice president of real estate at Walton Global, said in the release. “We are pleased to have worked with Wilson Capital and Carlton Capital Investments on this transaction and look forward to seeing The Ridge take shape as a thoughtfully planned community.”<\/p>\n

Developers highlight the property’s location, approximately 20 minutes from\u00a0Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and 30 minutes from Downtown Austin, pointing to the area’s growth and sustained housing demand as other benefits.<\/p>\n

The project comes as Hays County remains one of the fastest-growing regions in Texas, a trend often attributed to its location between Austin and San Antonio.
