{"id":353775,"date":"2026-06-28T21:00:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-28T21:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/353775\/"},"modified":"2026-06-28T21:00:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T21:00:15","slug":"13-year-old-driver-taken-into-custody-after-stolen-vehicle-pursuit-crash-in-lubbock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/353775\/","title":{"rendered":"13-year-old driver taken into custody after stolen vehicle pursuit, crash in Lubbock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; A 13-year-old driver and a 15-year-old passenger were taken into custody Sunday afternoon after a stolen vehicle pursuit ended in a crash on the South Loop 289 westbound access road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A Lubbock Police officer spotted the stolen vehicle near 40th Street and Avenue X just after 2:10 p.m. The driver fled when the officer attempted a traffic stop, prompting a pursuit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The driver lost control and crashed into a barrier at the intersection of 70th Street and the westbound access road for South Loop 289.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Juveniles taken into custody<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The 13-year-old driver fled on foot after the crash but was quickly taken into custody. A 15-year-old passenger remained in the vehicle and was also taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Both juveniles sustained moderate injuries and were transported to UMC for medical clearance before being booked into the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lubbock Police Department\u2019s Major Crash Unit is investigating.
