announced<\/a> by city officials and the park\u2019s foundation.<\/p>\nPlans call for a new event pavilion, reception spaces, and an outdoor lawn that can host concerts and convert into an ice-skating rink during the winter months.<\/p>\n
Construction is scheduled to begin this fall and is expected to take about two years, with the completed park slated to open in late 2028. Once finished, the park will span more than 7 acres.<\/p>\n
Klyde Warren Park opened in 2012 at a cost of more than $100 million. Officials say it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually and has generated $6 billion in growth for the Uptown and Downtown areas.<\/p>\n
Jody Grant, chairman of Klyde Warren Park, said planning for the expansion has been underway for years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had this in our sights for the last 20 years, but we\u2019ve been working intensely on it for the last 10 years. So, we\u2019ve got a turnkey project. It\u2019s already designed where each screw is supposed to go. So it\u2019s a turnkey product,\u201d Grant said, Fox 4 KDFW reported.<\/p>\n
Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson described the project as part of broader investments in the city\u2019s urban core.<\/p>\n
