{"id":356108,"date":"2026-06-30T19:13:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T19:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/356108\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T19:13:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T19:13:12","slug":"wbu-names-interim-dean-executive-director-of-lubbock-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/356108\/","title":{"rendered":"WBU names interim dean, executive director of Lubbock campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LUBBOCK \u2014 Dr. Christy Reed will assume leadership of Wayland Baptist University&#8217;s Lubbock campus as interim executive director and dean on July 1 following the retirement of Dr. Judy Jarratt, who concludes a distinguished 50-year career in education on June 30.<\/p>\n<p>Reed has served as assistant executive director and assistant dean of the Lubbock campus, providing leadership for academic programs, faculty and student services while helping guide the continued growth of the campus. She also serves as professor of education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Jarratt has faithfully served Wayland with excellence, integrity and a genuine love for students\u201d said Dr. Donna Hedgepath, university president. \u201cHer leadership has strengthened the Lubbock campus while advancing our mission of providing a distinctly Christian education. We are deeply grateful for her years of service and wish her God&#8217;s richest blessings in retirement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the same time, I am excited to welcome Dr. Reed into this leadership role. She has demonstrated a deep commitment to Wayland, our students, and the Lubbock community. I am confident she will build upon the strong foundation Dr. Jarratt has established while leading the campus into an exciting new chapter of growth and innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reed said she is honored to step into the leadership role and continue serving students, faculty and the Lubbock community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is both an honor and a profound responsibility to step into the role of Interim Dean for the Lubbock campus,\u201d Dr. Reed said. \u201cI begin this journey with deep gratitude for Dr. Jarratt, whose leadership, dedication and commitment to student success have shaped a strong foundation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Reed said she is committed to fostering innovation while maintaining Wayland\u2019s Christ-centered mission and focus on student success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy vision for the Lubbock campus is to foster a campus environment where innovation and collaboration are at the forefront of what we do,\u201d she said. \u201cWe will continue to prioritize student success by expanding opportunities for learning, engagement and personal growth. I am committed to strengthening partnerships within our community to ensure that we meet the evolving needs of our students and the communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reed said she is grateful for the opportunity to build upon the university\u2019s legacy while preparing the campus for continued growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am truly grateful for the opportunity to build on the traditions and mission of Wayland Baptist University,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Jarratt said serving as executive director and dean of the Lubbock campus has been a rewarding way to conclude her career in education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing the dean and executive Director of the Lubbock campus of Wayland Baptist University has been such a rewarding and fulfilling experience,\u201d Jarratt said. \u201cI truly believe this was the most fantastic way to end 50 years in education. I am excited for the future of the Lubbock campus under the leadership of Dr. Reed. She is such an inspiring leader and has many plans for how to move this campus into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wayland\u2019s Lubbock campus offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs designed to meet the educational needs of working adults and professionals throughout the South Plains.
