{"id":35660,"date":"2025-11-05T02:03:27","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T02:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/35660\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T02:03:27","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T02:03:27","slug":"lubbock-city-council-officially-repeals-alarm-system-fee-ordinance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/35660\/","title":{"rendered":"Lubbock City Council officially repeals alarm system fee ordinance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; The Lubbock City Council has officially repealed its amended ordinance that would have required property owners with alarm systems to pay an annual fee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">City leaders, including the mayor, voted unanimously Tuesday to throw out the changes the panel approved in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The repeal means homes and businesses with monitored alarms do not have to get a permit from the city. The ordinance changes were intended to reduce false alarms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Council members said they will work with the department to refine its proposal and find a compromise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lubbock Police Department said in a statement released Tuesday it will issue refunds to anyone who already submitted a permit fee for the repealed alarm system ordinance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A letter will be mailed to everyone who paid within the next week. The letter will include either a void check, a notice of credit card refund or a check from the city for cash payments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 KCBD.
