{"id":356662,"date":"2026-07-01T02:24:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T02:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/356662\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T02:24:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T02:24:07","slug":"texas-longhorns-win-3rd-consecutive-directors-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/356662\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Longhorns Win 3rd Consecutive Directors&#8217; Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Texas has won its fifth Directors\u2019 Cup title, all in the last six seasons, as the most successful NCAA Division I athletics program in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in Division II, Grand Valley State won its sixth consecutive title and 18th overall; Washington University in Missouri won its first-ever Directors\u2019 Cup in D3; and University of Cumberlands won its third-consecutive Cup in the NAIA.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Dominates D1 Cup<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Longhorns won their third consecutive title using both breadth and dominance. They won three national titles in men\u2019s swimming &amp; diving, women\u2019s rowing, and softball. They also picked up points in 18 sports \u2013 including four of the five compulsory sports.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Virginia finished 5th in the 2025-2026 final standings, boosted by an NCAA title in women\u2019s swimming and diving.<\/p>\n<p>Texas is one of only three schools that have won the award in its 32 editions. The Lakers took home the title in women\u2019s basketball, women\u2019s cross country and men\u2019s outdoor track and field. The Bears have finished as high as second on four separate occasions (2017, 2016, 2012 and 2008). WashU scored in 18 total sports (all 4 countable sports), including 13 teams with top 10 finishes.
