Texas A&M softball<\/a> saw another promising start to the year devolve\u00a0into\u00a0another disappointing postseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the second straight year, the Aggies were eliminated in a regional they hosted \u2014 this time it was by Arizona State<\/a>.\u00a0A&M finished the season 38-19 but have just one super regional appearance since 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite a relatively young roster, the\u00a0Aggies are optimistic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“There’s a lot of upswing I think here of getting that experience under their belt,” head coach Trisha Ford said after the season-ending loss to Arizona State in May. “I think we have a lot of pieces returning, a strong freshman incoming class and we’ll be active in the portal.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

With the departure of Kennedy Powell, the Aggies’ infield anchor at third base, they got a bit more help with incoming transfer Atalyia Rijo<\/a>. The infielder finished her sophomore season she had .342 batting average, 13 doubles, 7 home runs and 42 RBIs, all career highs.<\/p>\n

A&M got more infield experience with the addition of LSU transfer Maddox McKee<\/a>. The rising senior had<\/a> a 100% fielding\u00a0percentage through 33 games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

DeeDee Baldwin is taking a “year or two” off from softball which she announced in an Instagram post<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
