A suspect fleeing Houston police was\u00a0struck and killed by oncoming traffic along Highway 6 early Wednesday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.<\/p>\n
The pursuit on Highway 6 ended in the\u00a0Westpark area when the suspect took off on foot, landed on the highway’s service road and was struck by oncoming traffic, according to preliminary information from HPD. The suspect had refused to comply with a traffic stop, police said.<\/p>\n
A call first reported the incident at around 3:29 a.m., authorities said.<\/p>\n

Broken glass and car parts littered the lanes, and the scene extended to the feeder road below.<\/p>\n Shortly after 8 a.m., the southbound side of the highway was\u00a0closed between\u00a0Alief Clodine Road and\u00a0Bellaire Boulevard, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
