The partnership gives top aviation maintenance students mentorship, facility access and guaranteed interviews with American Airlines.<\/p>\n

FORT WORTH, Texas \u2014 American Airlines and Tarrant County College Tuesday launched a new partnership designed to create a direct path for North Texas students pursuing careers as aviation maintenance technicians.<\/p>\n

The agreement gives top-performing students in Tarrant County College’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program access to mentorship from American’s maintenance professionals, tours of the airline’s maintenance facilities and guaranteed job interviews with the carrier, a press release stated.<\/p>\n

American said the partnership aims to help address the aviation industry’s growing demand for skilled maintenance technicians while strengthening its local workforce.<\/p>\n

The agreement, American Airlines officials said, formalizes a relationship that has existed for several years, during which American employees have mentored Tarrant County College students, offered career guidance and supported student teams competing in the annual Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tarrant County College\u2019s Northwest Campus President Zarina Blankenbaker said, \u201cthis partnership provides direct access to professional expectations and meaningful career opportunities with a world-renowned aviation leader.\u201d<\/p>\n

American employs more than 1,400 aviation maintenance technicians in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, many of whom are Tarrant County College graduates. The airline said those employees will play a key role in mentoring students entering the profession.<\/p>\n

Students in the program typically complete 18 to 24 months of training at an FAA-certified aviation maintenance school before earning their Airframe and Powerplant certification.<\/p>\n
