Clovis, N.M. (KFDA) – A Clovis man is facing federal charges after police say he made threatening comments about the Lubbock Pride Fest.<\/p>\n
The New Mexico U.S. District Attorney\u2019s Office says on June 27, 44-year-old Michael Kenneth Thompson is accused of posting threatening comments on Facebook about the Lubbock Pride Fest 2026.<\/p>\n
This was in response to a post made by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Facebook page about the event.<\/p>\n
Officials say the statements reference the event as \u2018hunting season and \u2018target practice.<\/p>\n
Thompson also commented that he did not need help \u2018just more ammo.\u2019<\/p>\n
Officials say they received an anonymous tip where the FBI National Threat Operations Center identified the Facebook account and traced it back to Thompson in Clovis.<\/p>\n
Local law enforcement contacted Thompson, who police say admitted to making the comments and later deleting them.<\/p>\n
He was arrested by the FBI on June 28 at his home in Clovis.<\/p>\n
Thompson is charged with interstate threatening communications and was held in custody until his detention hearing on July 1.<\/p>\n
If convicted, Thompson faces up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n
The Roswell Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office is investigating this case with assistance from the Clovis Police Department.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of New Mexico is prosecuting the case.<\/p>\n
