Thursday&#8217;s temps have the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbur.org\/news\/2026\/07\/01\/boston-extreme-heat-july-fourth-forecast\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">potential to top 100 degrees<\/a> in Boston, with the &#8220;real feel&#8221; reaching as high as 115.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The punishing weather arrived just ahead of the July Fourth holiday weekend, as the city prepares to host the 2026 Boston Pops <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbur.org\/news\/2026\/06\/18\/july-fourth-boston-2026-fireworks-spectacular-what-to-know\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fireworks Spectacular<\/a> outside on Saturday.\u00a0Already, the heat is affecting the celebration; Officials announced that the Hatch Shell won&#8217;t open to the public until 4 p.m. because of the high temperatures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Around the city, residents and visitors took refuge in the shade or posted up by indoor air conditioners.
