A Judson ISD tax rate proposition has failed in Bexar County<\/a>, according to unofficial voting results.<\/p>\n What you need to know<\/p>\n A total of 5,874 votes, or 39.99%, were cast for JISD’s Proposition A, which would have increased the district’s property tax rate by $0.045 per $100 valuation to $1.0796 per $100. A total of 8,813 votes, or 60.01%, were against the proposition.<\/p>\n In the county, a total of 248,428 ballots were cast in unofficial totals, representing 19.31% of Bexar voters.<\/p>\n Posted 9:53 p.m.<\/p>\n After early voting in Bexar County<\/a>, over 60% of ballots have been cast against a Judson ISD tax rate proposition.<\/p>\n The overview<\/p>\n A total of 3,389 votes, or 38.95%, are for JISD\u2019s Proposition A, which would increase the district\u2019s property tax rate by $0.045 per $100 valuation to $1.0796 per $100 valuation. A total of 5,311 votes, or 61.05%, are against the proposition.<\/p>\n The district\u2019s board of trustees officially called<\/a> for the tax rate election, or VATRE, on Aug. 18. If approved, the VATRE would bring in approximately $21 million of revenue, according to the district.<\/p>\n The district called for the VATRE to address its budget shortfall, which sits at $27.57 million as of Oct. 16<\/a>, according to board documents.<\/p>\n A total of 148,450 early votes were cast throughout Bexar County races, representing 11.54% of the county\u2019s registered voters.<\/p>\n What\u2019s next?<\/p>\n Community Impact will update this article as more Election Day vote totals are released.
