Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola, sits down with Blake Holland for this week\u2019s edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kltv.com\/news\/east-texas-now\/east-texas-politics\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kltv.com\/news\/east-texas-now\/east-texas-politics\/\">East Texas Politics on East Texas Now.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hughes served on the Texas Senate General Investigating Committee on the July 2025 flooding events. Lawmakers recently <a href=\"https:\/\/senate.texas.gov\/_assets\/pdf\/2026.06.26-FINAL-report-corrected.pdf\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/senate.texas.gov\/_assets\/pdf\/2026.06.26-FINAL-report-corrected.pdf\">released a report<\/a> focusing on Camp Mystic, where 28 people died in the floods. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hughes discussed the committee\u2019s key findings, legislative action already taken in response to the flooding, and what more could still be done.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Holland also talked with Hughes about other political topics, including a recent interim hearing of the Senate Committee on State Affairs, which Hughes chairs.
