All votes are in for the Robstown mayoral election, and the race will now head to a runoff after no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote.<\/p>\n
According to the final election results, Mary Ann Saenz finished first with 40.45% of the vote, followed closely by current Mayor Petey Martinez, who received 37.2%.
Homer Villarreal placed third with 12.33%, and Eva Elizondo Orona came in fourth with 9.99%.<\/p>\n
Under Robstown\u2019s election rules, a candidate must win a majority\u2014more than 50% of the vote\u2014to secure the mayor\u2019s seat outright. Since no one reached that threshold, the top two vote-getters, Saenz and Martinez, will face off in a runoff election.<\/p>\n
Saenz said she\u2019s ready for what comes next.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf a runoff is in the future, then I\u2019m excited and ready,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019ll take it on when we get there.\u201dMayor Martinez also expressed optimism about earning voters\u2019 trust again.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll see whenever we come back again for the runoff,\u201d Martinez said. \u201cI hope that the people will still have that faith in me.\u201dElection officials have not yet announced the date for the runoff election.<\/p>\n
