A Houston man accused of filming himself<\/a> spraying homeless and disabled people with a high-powered water gun says he’s being unfairly portrayed<\/a> as a villain, even as criminal charges against him move forward.<\/p>\n

Christopher Cayce, 34, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury after Houston police<\/a> accused him of targeting vulnerable people with what the department described as a “high-powered, motorized water gun.” Investigators allege Cayce taunted victims before posting videos of the encounters on social media.<\/p>\n

But since posting bond, Cayce has taken to Facebook to defend himself.<\/p>\n

“I REALLY LOVE THESE PEOPLE IM NOT A BAD PERSON,” he wrote Saturday alongside a video showing himself handing out food to unhoused people from the back of a pickup truck. The post tagged the Houston Police Department.<\/p>\n

In another post, Cayce apologized for what he described as “childish activities” while maintaining he never intended to hurt anyone.<\/p>\n

“For all the feelings I hurt I do sincerely apologize for my actions,” he wrote. “In my eyes this was harmless fun that we all enjoy at one point of life.”<\/p>\n

He also pushed back against critics, arguing many of the people condemning him online ignore homeless residents in everyday life.<\/p>\n

“Believe it or not I keep GOD first,” Cayce wrote.<\/p>\n

The posts stand in sharp contrast to the allegations outlined by Houston police. According to HPD, detectives investigated several incidents involving disabled and homeless people who were allegedly sprayed with the high-powered water gun before Cayce posted videos of the encounters online.<\/p>\n

Court records show Cayce was released on a general order bond after his arrest and is scheduled to appear in court next week.<\/p>\n

The water blaster shown in Cayce’s videos appears to be manufactured by Spyra<\/a>, which markets the device as “the world’s strongest water gun.” The company’s safety guidance warns users not to shoot people in the face or eyes.<\/p>\n

Cayce also dismissed the allegations in another video discussing his time in jail.<\/p>\n

“Ain’t nothing wrong with having a sense of humor,” he wrote in one post.<\/p>\n

Whether a jury agrees the incidents amounted to “harmless fun” or criminal assault will now be decided in court.<\/p>\n
